Faculty Survey (2004-2005)

To discover how faculty view the intersections between spirituality and higher education and how their perspectives and practices may influence the spiritual development of students during their undergraduate years, the research team incorporated selected items on the 2004-2005 Triennial National Faculty Survey conducted by UCLA’s Higher Education Research Institute (HERI). The survey questionnaire also addressed how faculty view their own spiritual expression and development within the context of their academic careers and their institutional work environments.

More than 65,000 faculty from colleges and universities across the country participated in the survey. Normative responses from a nationally representative sample of institutions provided the basis for results highlighted in Spirituality and the Professoriate: A National Study of Faculty Beliefs, Attitudes, and Behaviors.

The research team is currently conducting additional analyses using these data, and topically related items are not available for external analysis. For more information about the Faculty Survey, please contact the Higher Education Research Institute.
