RESEARCH ON SPIRITUALITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION RESEARCH AWARDS
Application/Review Process
All applications must meet the requirements outlined below. Contact our office via email with any questions regarding the application process. To apply for an award, please submit the following documents as one or more attachments to spirit@gseis.ucla.edu.
- A proposal of no more than 2,000 words (not including CV) that includes information about your proposed study, relevant literature, methodology, and how you will use the data.
- A concise curriculum vitae or resume (primary investigator only -- no longer than three pages).

- Cover Page: Title of study, Name(s) of principal investigator, co-investigator, institutional affiliation, address, phone, email.
- Purpose: Provide a background and rationale for your study. Where appropriate, explain the study’s theoretical framework. Reference the literature as appropriate.
- Research questions and/or hypotheses.
- Methodology
- Dissemination: Describe how you plan to disseminate the results.

Dissemination
The investigator(s) should provide two copies of a written report as soon as the study is completed. The Spirituality in Higher Education project reserves the right to potentially disseminate your findings on the project website and/or in an edited volume.
Review Process
Proposals will be reviewed by a panel of experts in the field, using the following criteria:
- Originality and likelihood of contributing significantly to knowledge in the field;
- Data from the project adequately match the proposed research project;
- The study design is adequate to answer the questions being asked, theoretical grounding (where appropriate) is adequate, and the proposal provides sufficient detail about the proposed method and definition of variables; and
- The research minimizes duplication with other research being conducted by UCLA project staff.
